Allied Reddi-Rooter has served Cincinnati homeowners, businesses, restaurants, and facilities since 1950. Over the years, plumbing systems, tools, neighborhoods, and customer needs have changed, but the company’s focus has remained simple: provide quick, practical plumbing help when customers need it.

We recently asked Allied Reddi-Rooter owner Ray Connaughton some questions about the company’s long history, customer service approach, and what makes Allied different from larger plumbing companies.

Allied has been serving Cincinnati since 1950. What do you think has allowed the company to last this long?

Ray: Consistent, quick service for both residential and commercial customers. Allied has been around for decades because customers know they can call us when they need help, whether it is a routine plumbing repair or an urgent problem that needs attention quickly.

When someone calls Allied with a plumbing emergency, what do you want them to feel after talking with your team?

Ray: We want customers to feel like they have someone ready to help. Some calls are routine, like a faucet repair that can be scheduled over the next couple of days. Other calls are true emergencies, like water leaking or spraying in the home. We do our best to prioritize calls based on the seriousness of the problem and respond as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

What are some of the most common problems Cincinnati homeowners and businesses call Allied for?

Ray: Many calls are for stopped-up drains or plumbing fixtures that are not working properly. That may include clogged drains, toilets, faucets, sump pumps, or other fixtures that need repair. Whether it is a drain issue or a fixture problem, the goal is to identify what is happening and get the plumbing working again.

How has Allied changed as Cincinnati homes, restaurants, businesses, and plumbing systems have changed?

Ray: Allied has changed with the times. Plumbing technology and equipment have improved, and we have adapted along the way. Today, we use tools like sewer inspection cameras and locators to see inside sewer lines and identify where problems are located. We have also seen improvements in sump pump systems, including battery backup options and water-powered backup options.

As new tools and better options become available, Allied works to offer customers practical, up-to-date solutions.

What makes Allied different from some of the bigger plumbing companies people might call first?

Ray: Allied is a smaller company, and we believe that helps us stay more connected to customer needs. Our focus is on correcting the plumbing issue, not trying to sell customers ongoing contracts or unnecessary future services. We want to solve the problem in a practical, honest, and cost-effective way.

Is there a recent service call that captures what Allied is about?

Ray: Recently, a customer called after trying to make a plumbing repair under a sink. Something went wrong, water was spraying everywhere, and he did not know how to shut it off. Because he was located close to the office, one of Allied’s service technicians was able to respond in about 15 minutes. The technician turned off the water, fixed the issue, and helped resolve the emergency quickly.

That kind of call reflects what Allied tries to do every day: be available, respond quickly, and help customers when they need it most.
